About

Hi, I’m Jane!

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Offbeat Parenting is where I explain autistic behaviors kids might engage in to parents and caregivers who don’t understand.

I’m an autistic adult who grew up in a time where autism wasn’t something people talked about. Temple Grandin and Rain Man were THE referenced autism representations.

I work full-time in retail and blog outside my traditional job, while building a life where I will be able to blog full-time and not have to endure sensory overload in the name of survival.

An estimated 40-85 percent of autistic adults are unemployed across the U.S. and UK. Contributing factors include autistic burnout, skill mismatch, and pattern recognition.

I created this blog to help you understand autism better, not hold your hand while you parent your autistic child.

Previously, I contributed autism posts to other parenting blogs as an autistic freelance writer.

This experience taught me the importance of staying in my own lane for mental health and that parents out there do want to learn about autism from autistic voices.

My primary blog is Lemon & Lively, a personal lifestyle blog where I share about my life as an autistic adult recovering from trauma, pursuing hobbies, and recovering from anorexia.
